Two types of Blogger's Skin: HTML and XML

I started using Blogger.com in 2004 or early 2005, but haven't really maintained those blogs. Just last night, I got hooked with blogger.com once again. I made two blogs here: one is twoeleven-am which is my fun blog, and the other one is this blog, CSS hub. I really hope to maintain this blog as I learn the ropes of CSS. I want to create free themes and skins for blogger and also for Wordpress.

Hubi and I went out awhile ago to look for some stuffs. We reached home by 8p.m. I immediately checked on my main blog for some comments. I was planning to blog tonight in my main blog, but decided that it would be better if I'd just blog tomorrow, March1. More of this topic in my main blog.

In making blogger's skin, I have to take into consideration these two types of skins: 1) classic skin (HTML), and 2) new skin (XML).

Woot. So much stuffs to learn. We were planning to clean the house tonight at 9p.m., but hubi's head is aching. He's asleep now at 9:23p.m. I guess I should also sleep now.

Blogger's classic template

In my other blog at blogger.com, I used the silhouette theme. I did not encounter any problem in pasting the theme since the default mode is not the classic template. In this new blog I created, I noticed that the theme I currently use, Cute Snail, (i love it btw!), it makes use of the Classic Template so I reverted back to the classic mode.

In doing my own blogger skin, here's what I have to keep in mind: I should make sure which template mode would my blogger skin be compatible - the old or the new Blogger template. Nice lesson for today!

I think I have to sleep now. We'll go to the Friday Market later today. It's past 2 a.m. already. LOL! So my first blog I created for today at blogger, the 2:11a.m. blog, really makes sense.

Update: 3.30a.m.

I changed my blog theme from Cute Snail to the current theme. It's because with the former theme, it still included Blogger's toolbar (see below).

I don't like to see it. hehe. Woot. Gotta sleep now.

Blogger skins and themes

During my first attempt in blogging, I was an avid user of blogspot.com. But I changed to Wordpress and Mindsay. I'm back to using blogspot because it seems so cool to change themes. I am trying to harness my CSS skills. I created the site, Blogger Skins and Themes so I'd learn more about CSS.

It may take some time before I could upload my first blogger theme. But I am sure, it would be fun! I love this theme ~ simple and clean. I am sticking with it for now as I learn the ropes of CSS. I hope I am not slower than the snail before I could upload my first blogger skin. I studied CSS before but without much practice, I forgot about it. I hope to devote a part of my free time (away from blogging) to refreshing my memory about CSS. I also love WORDPRESS. I also hope to create Wordpress themes in the future. For now, I will learn about creating free blogger skins and themes; hence, this blog.

I maintain my regular blogging about life, personality development, and productivity here. You can also find my funblog here.
